When the right valve for the job sounds so Sweet!

We were contacted recently by an existing customer at a Sugar Refinery,  who had a big problem with some ball valves that he needed to fix …………..and fast.

Some ball valves that were specified incorrectly by another supplier years before ,were now leaking  through the seat and stem packing  and it was only a matter of time before they failed completely. The likely end result would be costly downtime and emergency remedial works. What a headache!!

Fortunately we had previously supplied  a suitable valve design on a similar duty elsewhere at the same refinery ,which had been operating  fault free across 6 lines for over a decade. It had ‘proved’ the design to be reliable and effective over the long term.

This was put forward to our customer and after some discussion with the manufacturer on the technical side  our customer approved  a ball segment valve with stainless steel body, chrome hardened ball and steaming in points to keep the seat and cavity area clean and free-flowing.

Sometimes when something just works it just works and it’s a case of “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” when It comes to longevity, reliability and cost. On this occasion we were fortunate to have had a lengthy test bed in real life service conditions to prove the solution.
